Like pulling teeth.

I have come to the realization that I have a lot of ideas but no actual plot. This is a problem. I am going to spend the rest of the night outlining, or at the very least attempting to figure out a plot. Just thought I'd share my tricks for getting a lot of words fast this year:

- Play music. Loud and upbeat is your best bet, but nothing that you actually want to dance to. This will prevent any writing from occurring. (See: 7pm last night, "Sexy Bitch" by David Guetta.)

- Sit down with a small word goal. I've been aiming for 250-500 words per sitting and I've been ending up with 1000. Less stress and takes a lot less time.

- Use the "prompts" thread on the NaNoWriMo "Reaching 50,000" forum judiciously. I wrote 2 pages based on the line, "Whoever ate the last cupcake was going to hurt. It would be death by frosting." Another 6 pages came from, "I can freaking taste the rainbow in here."

- Sacrifice a goat to Cthulhu. 'nuff said.

I did a whole lot of nothing this weekend. Went out Friday night (sigh) with Jodi, met up with Diana, Bry, and their friends Amanda and Donna. Danced a lot. Went home at 2am. Not bad. Sat around all day Saturday. Sat around all day Sunday. Ate a lot. Watched the entirety of Lost Girl - amazing show, I recommend it 100% - and a good portion of the first season of Big Bang Theory. Sigh. Procrastination...

Back to the weekly grind. Awesome. Gotta start applying to recruiters... stop pissing around Adam! Git 'er done.

The NaNo boards are so ridiculously helpful. I used it to help me name basically all of my characters because I really fail at thinking up names. Even though I'm doing OK on word count right now, I totally will need that prompt thread soon.

The boards are also a great time waster... sigh. If you have trouble coming up with names, why not try out behindthename.com? Great site. Alternatively, namevoyager to choose names popular in the year your character was born.

I really need a plot... I just switched back to writing my first novel of the month because my second novel has no plot. The problem? The reason I stopped writing the first novel was because it was - wait for it - LACKING A PLOT. Good grief.
