Mood: dog days are over
Music: Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia... - Morning After Pill

Saturday I did a whole lot of nothing. I sat on the roof for a while in the scorching heat. I got lunch with Zandra. Sat in the park with Jodi. We were honestly bored shitless; we had nothing to do and it was too hot to actually do anything. Got galbi with Jodi, Zandra, and Caroline. Drank a bit with Jodi, Caroline, Shannon, and Andrew, and then went to bed. I went a whole weekend without getting drunk. Not bad. On the downside, I have more alcohol in my fridge than I know what to do with. I think I may have a "give away my alcohol" party sometime soon.

Today I woke up early, did some laundry, watched TV. Sat in the park with Jodi and Josh for a while. Got gimbap with Jodi and Zandra. Went to see How to Train Your Dragon with J&Z - it was really quite good, I highly recommend it. Then we got TGIF's, ice cream, and came home. This afternoon made up for the shit that was Saturday.

Next weekend I may go to the firefly festival in Muju, which doesn't have fireflies, but it'll give me something to do. If I don't do that I'll have Foreign Food Weekend #1. The weekend after that I have my 10K, and maybe I'll go to an island just for the fuck of it. The weekend after that I plan on going to Wolchulsan, possibly for the weekend. Then in July there's MudFest and Thailand. In August I'll probably go to a beach once and maybe up to Sokcho just for the fuck of it. Russia in September. That's about all I have planned out for now.

you say you don't feel fully fledged, then crawl back into the womb.
you're too scared to agree or disagree or even think about what you want.
you say you're scared of feeling trapped, and then lock yourself in your mother's house.
Meanwhile, Back In Communist Russia - Morning After Pill

i can't control myself
when i see you there's no one else
when i get down all by myself
you're the one that i think about
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Let's Make Out

i hear you can't trust in your own
now the grey is broken in the early morn
and the words forming barely have a voice
it's just your heart that's breaking without choice
Calexico - All Systems Red
(this song always gives me shivers whenever I listen to it)

i lost my heart by those neon lights
at the starlite diner one november night
and how i thought i could make it
now i see that i might die
alone
my heart gone here at the starlite
Lucero - Here At The Starlite
(another song that gives me shivers whenever I listen to it)

i'm going out,
i'm gonna drink myself to death
and in the crowd
i see you with someone else
i brace myself
'cause i know it's going to hurt
but i like to think at least things can't get any worse
Florence and the Machine - Hurricane Drunk
(this woman is a genius and I would carry her babies if I had a uterus...)

my love has concrete feet, my love's an iron ball
wrapped around your ankles, over the waterfall
i'm so heavy, heavy, heavy in your arms
i'm so heavy, heavy, heavy in your arms
Florence and the Machine - Heavy In Your Arms

i can make you sing
i can make you shout
...
no it don't make a difference
and it don't make a difference anyway
Two Door Cinema Club - Hands Off My Cash, Monty

daytime i walk the street!
daytime i walk the street!
i walk the streets yes!
somebody's listening!
i feel like someone's listening
to the song in my head!
i start to run!
i start to run!
White Denim - I Start To Run
(this is one of the greatest running songs of all time)

that's exactly how I feel about that festival... and yet... it'd give me something to do.

I'm trying to put my passport to good use, but I just haven't had the opportunity to properly do so yet. I'm workin' on it...

hey! no worries, I'm pretty awful at keeping in touch myself. don't worry, I don't have as much drama as it appears--I only write in this journal when I'm in a bad mood these days. I am content with my job - I really like it - and my lifestyle/surroundings are great. if you get the chance you should try to get a job in Korea...

I agree, I've changed completely from the person I was back before I came to Korea. Not sure I like the changes, but whatever.

do you have any exciting travel plans ahead of you? Do you like your job/your environment? I'll send you my mailing address as long as you send me yours in return!

have a good day!
