Weekend, today, my life.

Mood: Shit.

Friday night a group of us were hanging out at Jodi's when we decided to go to the beach Saturday morning. Saturday morning we met up in front of FamilyMart and caught a cab to the bus station. Once there we went to the information desk, where we told the lady there, "We want to go to a beach. Where should we go?" That resulted in a 5,300W bus ticket to Mokpo (about 50-60 minutes away) and a 40 minute ferry ride to Oedaldo, an island just off the coast.

Oedaldo is a nice little island, a bit rundown but nice. It's not a very happening place but that's not what we were looking for, so whatever. We ended up sunning, wandering around the island, and drinking beer most of the day. It was a pleasant, relaxing day.

Coincidentally a group of foreigners from Mokpo went to the same island we went to. We spent part of the day in separate groups, but gradually began to merge. By the end of the day we were hanging out and drinking together. We made our way back to Mokpo and went to the apartment of one of our new friends. We ate pizza, played an epic game of Apples to Apples (at which I tied for the win; my best plays were "Selfish: Princess Di" and "Graceful (synonym: Supple): Choir Boys"), and then we departed. Well, sort of. Jodi, Kristina, and Leigh left for home, but Kylee and myself stayed in Mokpo and went out with a few of the Mokpo people. I stayed for about an hour and a half before I realized all the alcohol I was drinking was taking its toll and I went home. That was the first time I've done long-distance traveling by myself in Korea - and I was drunk at the time - so I was rather pleased with myself for not fucking up and ending up in Busan or something.

Sunday Jodi, Nigel and I went to the all-day breakfast place downtown. We all had full English breakfasts, which was acceptable, if you ignored the bacon (which I had no trouble doing, since I have no standards as far as food is concerned). Then we walked around for a bit, took the subway to Sangmu, went to Lotte/E-Mart, visited a temple - which looked quite nice as it was decorated for Buddha's birthday, but unfortunately I wasn't aware that we were going there so I didn't bring my camera - and came home.

I'm not in a great mood right now for a variety of reasons. This weekend is Seoul, maybe, and next week - besides being a 3 day work week - will be Jeju. Honestly, if I could just get past the next 2 weeks my mood would probably be 50x better. I woke up this morning, decided not to go to the gym, went to the gym anyways, worked out, fucked up my knee, decided I didn't want to be there, and came home. I have about 600 photos to upload from the last week and the next 1.5 weeks are bound to produce another 600. That's my life in a nutshell.

My plan before I ever even left the US was to stay in Korea until my loans were paid off. I don't know how long I'll stay, but it'll be a few years. Don't know if it'll be at this school though. I may also end up moving to Taiwan or Japan or somewhere like that. I don't know.

Roots are made to be broken. No reason not to experience the world. This is the time to do it.

The thing is, I don't have anything against Korea - my angst is related to other shit. I haven't been homesick or anything. I just have issues.
