Mood: decent enough
Music: Grails - Bad Bhang Recipe

1. I'm not doing the TEFL course in Chicago. It's a little too expensive. If I do a TEFL course, it'll be CELTA.

2. On that note, I'm looking into doing a CELTA program. Possibly in Poland. Or the Czech Republic. Or Argentina. Or Vietnam.

3. I want to close my eyes and point at a map and go to wherever my finger lands. Just buy a plane or train ticket and go somewhere. Just go.

4. I have nothing to do and don't know what to do with myself. However, I'm in a far better mood than I've been in for the last few days, which is a good thing.

5. I'm contemplating writing. We'll see if I can manage to move past the contemplation and into the actual writing.

6. I now own every Grails album. I love this band. LOVE.

7. I haven't shaved since Saturday and I'm looking pretty scruffy. I'm thinking I may continue this trend for the foreseeable future. Just because I can.

That CELTA qualification sounds cool. I think I'll make that my "back up" in case I don't get a teaching job in philosophy. Man, if I could live somewhere like Prague or Helsinki and teach ESL I actually think I could deal with not being a philosophy academic.

The CELTA qualification is something I've been contemplating for some time down (a couple years at least). Although, I have to say, with an MA you wouldn't even need a CELTA certification - you'd basically be able to get all the good jobs everywhere in the world. And with the CELTA, well, you'd be living good.

I would LOVE to live in Helsinki. I've never been there, of course, but Finland is one of my dream countries - like the promised land... haha.

Helsinki is really cool. I went there for a conference and blew off most of the conference (except for when I was presenting, of course ;-)) just bopping around Helsinki.

I actually got so excited that I did some looking at transporting pets (since I have three cats) and I don't think I can do it because my cat, Vinnie, has some health issues. I got him when he was a kitten back in 1997, when a friend rescued him from a Texas highway. He has some sort of congenital heart defect which has shown up over the past few years. I was reading here about someone's pug who died on an overseas flight. The pug had a heart condition and the flight stressed it too much. I couldn't stand it if we took him and something happened. So, I guess I just hope that the whole teaching philosophy thing works out...

Aww, I'm sorry about Vinnie! I'd really love to bring my cats along with me on my travels hither and yon, but it just won't work out for the time being - not until I figure out where I'm going to end up permanently, at any rate. One of my cats, Mischa, has feline diabetes, and she's on her way out... she's a nasty, vicious brute, but she's my little monster, so I'll miss her no matter what. I doubt I'd even be able to take her on a train. My other cat, Annie, is my little pumpkin butt (I AM SO LAME I'M SORRY hahaha), and I miss her whenever I'm away from here. She sleeps on my pillow at night and licks the chapstick off my lips. Such a bizarre, sweet creature, haha. :(:(
