Mood: successful, sort of

First of all: California, you remain dead to me. What the fuck ever.

Secondly, a line from a porno that I thought was hysterical: "My dick is an attention whore, it likes it when trains go by. I tell you that is not a proper blowjob."

Today's tale of bureaucracy and bullshit: The Criminal Background Check, Part 2 of 34861

As yesterday was a holiday, I went to the Niles Police Station today to get my criminal background check. I am sadly without a car (or a license), so my father was the lucky one to chauffeur me there. Let's just say... it was stressful.

You see, my father worries. A lot. About everything. He worries about a dirty bomb on the el in Chicago, he worries about a nuclear bomb going off in Missouri, and he worries about North Korea. A lot. With the recent "saber-rattling" in North Korea, he's beginning to freak out. He didn't want to get the background check today, telling me that things in NK are changing and I should wait. Eventually he got over himself and we went. I suspect his worrying will only get worse before it gets better. Personally, I figure that you can't live in fear all your life.

So, Niles. I went in, got the request form, started to fill it out, and then I asked if I needed to be a resident of Niles to get the background check. Apparently I do. So we went to the Des Plaines police department, the same place that said I couldn't get it done there just a few days ago. I figured that maybe I could get my point across in person. I did: the receptionists sent me up to the records office, I handed over my ID, and the woman sent me over to the cashier in city hall, where I paid $5 for the background check. I went back, handed over my receipt, and got my background check. No waiting required.

Next up: finding a notary public to sign off on my background check and then getting it apostilled. And then... waiting.

I know, right?! hahaha, I burst out laughing when I read it. Gotta love porn that doesn't take itself too seriously.

really, I just think it's sad that CA has been considered progressive for so long and now... not so much. :/
good for you though! At least someone is standing up for what's right. :/
