Knock on wood, I leave Kirksville tomorrow. Forever. Never to return. How weird is that?

Today I packed and ate chinese take-out and hung out with my parents. We drove by the area the tornado(es) hit the other day - it was ridiculous. Buildings were in pieces, several houses were, ah, not exactly houses anymore, several cars at a car dealership were flipped upside down, and I'm damn glad that tornado wasn't any closer to me than it was. It was, what, maybe five miles away? That's five miles too close, if you ask me.

I had another good run tonight, 3.5 miles or so. Made up for my run Friday night, which was cut short after a lightning storm decided to roll into town. My next goal is to be able to run that entire distance with no breaks, which should be possible fairly soon, I think. I took a 3 minute walking break after the first mile and a 1.5 minute walking break after the second. That's not too bad. I'd also like to get up to running 5 miles every time I go running. I should be able to hit that in a month or two. Hurrah for progress!

Tomorrow's going to be pretty busy: finish packing, meet with my landlady, go to the post office, stop at the registrar's office, go back to Chicago. I should probably, like, go to sleep or something. That's an idea.

Oh yeah... I keep on doing things and thinking, "I'm never going to be doing this here again." And I'll (probably) be doing the same thing when I leave Chicago this summer. So many life changes, so little time! Yikes.

packing for me really didn't take that much time/effort... of course, I kind of half-assed it and threw most of the little things into plastic bags, and everything else I have I put in boxes. What I really regret about moving is losing so much of my furniture - two futons, my desk, three bookcases, a chair, several laundry paskets, some trash cans... ugh. My parents just don't have the room for all of that/didn't feel like renting a UHaul truck to bring it back to Chicago. whatever.

If you don't mind my asking, where are you moving to? I totally know how you feel about running in a new place... I'm moving back to the city I was born and raised in, but I've never actually run there. Somehow I think that running in the city will be a very different experience than running on rural back roads (fields all around, barely any street lamps)... ehhh. Hopefully your new neighborhood will turn out to be safe and even better than the one you live in now. :):)
