Mood: on the sidewalk
Music: The Rugburns - Hitchhiker Joe

Yesterday's word count: 7224
Total word count: 28002

I've been so busy writing and studying that I really haven't been sleeping much lately. Plus, Daylight Savings time kind of fucked up my sleep schedule a little. On Wednesday I was so tired that I wrote 500 words and said "fuck it." Thursday I was still tired - and I wasn't in the mood to do the reading for Russian Drama - so I ended up skipping class (the first time this semester for any class, not counting the time I was sick) and sleeping. I also wrote quite a bit. Overall it was an excellent day.

I received a letter a few days ago from the school, saying that I received the waiver to get out of the 28 hours residency requirement. What does this mean? Well, I don't have to take 16 credit hours in the spring. I've been trying to find a class to pick up that is a) open, b) looks halfway interesting, c) is in the afternoon, and d) doesn't interfere with any of my other classes. I'm not having much luck. I may end up taking Russian Poetry, which I don't really want to do, since that'll mean I'll be taking 11 credits with Dr. J. And she's my advisor. And I doubt I'd be receiving an A in any of those classes. Very lame.

These are all songs that I've been playing on repeat and have, at one point or another, sung out loud. In no particular order:

Veruca Salt - Volcano Girls
Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like Me
Passion Pit - Sleepy Head
Danger - 11h30
Digitalism - Pogo
Black Kids - Hit the Heartbrakes
Black Kids - Hurricane Jane
Rugburns - Hitchhiker Joe
Alphabeat - Fantastic Six

For the record, I still appreciate the fact that your word count is lower than mine. ;)

Bohemian like you, m'dear :D Dandy Warhols preceded David Bowie when he was doing a stadium show in Finland, and that was their closing number. It was pretty awsum :)
Here's hoping you'll reach the word count. Lookin' good so far. I've never gotten around to participating myself, since Nov is usually pretty hectic for me in the life department. And I traditionally spend a certain day of the month hiding under my bed, so it would hinder the creative process as well.

Oh jeez... Dandy Warhols + David Bowie? Together? I would probably faint. Or have a heart attack.

November is always really hectic - for just about everyone - but I do NaNoWriMo anyways. Heck, if there are any months that are particularly good for you, I'd actually be willing to participate with you, haha. If you don't mind my asking, why do you spend a day hiding under your bed? No need to answer if you'd rather not!

Oh, also: if I wanted to find a job in Finland and I don't speak Finnish... how would I go about doing so? Just curious... ;)

Well, I almost did, so there ;) It was pure awesomeness, DB played for like two hours :) I wore red shoes, despite the fact that the only ones I had then were open toe and it was the middle of winter. Yes, I'm sad ;)

I'll see about the private NaNo, I might take you up on that :) And I hide because my birthday is in November, and I have a very Garfieldian way of handling those (through denial, that is).

Apply to the company I work for :D Heh, quite a few people over there don't speak Finnish and it's probly the best part-time employment for non-Finnish-speaking students there is. But if you're looking for something else than cleaning (most people are :D), the Finnish Employment Office is a good place to start.

Haha, I think risking your toes was worth seeing David Bowie + the Dandy Warhols. I mean, seriously. (JEALOUS!)

You should definitely take me up on the private NaNo; it'd give me a great reason to write outside of November, haha. I promise not to try to hit 50,000 words in 10 days again. Well. Maybe. ;)

ooh, that's a great website! I've bookmarked it for further perusal. If you don't mind my asking, what company do you work for? I promise not to stalk you, honest! :P

Yeah, well, there's that. You, sir, are a horrible, horrible person :P

Werlll... I work for a company that supplies cleaning services for cruise ships. I'm a sort of combined cleaner/cabin stewardess. Glamorous, eh? And unfortunately no, our cruise ships are nothing like the ones you have over at Caribbean and suchlike.

(yes, he did play Let's Dance :) )
