Mood: hello this is your body
Music: Black Kids - Listen To Your Body Tonight

Finally, a semester in which I received respectable (read: up to my standards) grades!

FREN 326 French for Intl Business Comm A
FREN 425 Phonology & Advanced Grammar B
JINS 316 WE/Portrayals of Women A
RUSS 216 Intermediate Russian II A
RUSS 420 WE/The Modern Russian Novel B

An A in Russian?!?! This is pretty much the greatest thing ever. Also, I see that skipping Business didn't affect my grade (what a worthless class). Very happy about JINS. Indifferent toward Phonology & Grammar - it was probably the best French class I've ever taken, but I definitely deserved my grade. Russian Lit... well... whatever. We'll see if I can maintain this next year.

In other news, I shaved for the first time since before finals. I'll miss my burgeoning pornstache, but definitely not my godawful beard. All I really want in life are mutton chops and a handlebar moustache... is that too much to ask?

Haha, I always enjoyed my literature classes in high school. I dreaded my science and math classes. I spent my Physics class reading ahead for my lit class. ;)

Since you avoid obscenities, it's okay if you don't want to teach me any... it's really just for fun anyways, haha. If you're up to it, the main words I'm interested in are "fuck" and "shit." I know 'em in French, Italian, and Spanish, but I've never gotten the chance to learn them in Russian...

It's ok I'm just joking :-)
Omg what am i doing :-))))))))))))))))

"Fuck" in Russian has different meaning and you can use it in different situation :-)
In Russian "fuck" => хуй
Basically the words хуй mean penis (street language) :-)
However, all depend on the contest of the sentence :-)

For example If somebody you cant stand really annoying, you can say:
Пошёл на хуй! (for man) and Пошла на хуй! (for woman)
Which means "fuck you!" :-)
Don' tell it your tutor... you can be in big trouble ha ha :-)))

However you can transform this words. For example:
Что за хуйня? = What the fuck???? (Its a similar question)
Хуйня случилась => Shit happens :-)))))
Мне хуёво => which means "I feel bad" :-)))

"Shit" in Russia is Дерьмо :-)
Also дерьмо equals to bullshit :-)
You can say: Что за дерьмо!!!!! (What the bullshit!/What the fuck!)
Which has the same meaning with English :-)

So, you also can say:
Дерьмо случилось! => the same is "Shit happens"
In this case
Хуйня случилась and Дерьмо случилось have the same meaning :-)

Note! The ending is different because:
Хуйня = She
Дерьмо = It

Sorry have problem with grammar :-)))

Oh I think its enough for the first lesson :-)

Buy the way some word are similar with English in pronounce :-)
For instance:
idiot = идиот
prostitute = проститутка

The most complicated in Russian is that one word can have different meanings depends on contest :-)
Particularly in modern street language :-))))

Thank you so much for the detailed grammar/vocab lesson! It was very helpful.

I think I've seen "хуй" before - possibly on LiveJournal - but I didn't know what it meant. Now I'll be sure to use it as often as possible. ;)

Would you be able to tell me where the stress (emphasis) is in хуйня и ебанутый?

Thanks again! :):)

Right :-)
I guess, the stress (emphasis)
хуйнЯ and

Another common word in Russian offensive language is:
Сука which means "Bitch" in English
However, in Russian you can apply this word to both male and female and it means "Bad person"!!!

For women who sleeps with all mans around we usually use word Блядь :-)

Frequently, you can here the word Бля! (which is short version of Блядь), but it has different meaning!!!
Бля! usually equals to "Damn!"
And people use it when in one's vexation (annoyance)

My language teacher must be proud of me ha ha ha :-))))))))

hahaha, thank you so much! I believe I've heard "Бля" before (my Russian tutor last year used it), but I haven't heard the other words. :)

Hey, at least you're doing something with your language training. :P

If you ever need any help in English (not that you do - your English is really good as it is), feel free to ask. :)

Btw,if the person is completely nuts and stupid idiot, you can use the words:
Ебанутый - about man
Ебанутая - about women

Note that endings is different again because first word about He and second about She ;-)

The full sentence will be:

Он ебанутый - He is nuts
Она ебанутая - She is nuts
