Personally, I compare being in Kirksville to slitting your wrist with a blade of grass. You just want it to be over, but it'll take forever and you'll probably go unconscious from shock and taken to a hospital before you manage to die from a loss of blood. And then when you're out of the hospital and back to normal, you'll realize that you're doomed to try that same escape again, and again, and again...

Due to my failure at finding a ride back to Chicago, my parents came down at the last minute and we spent Thanksgiving in a motel in Columbia. Columbia is home to the University of Missouri (Mizzou). Columbia is also a really fucking shitty town. Thanksgiving dinner was a spicy chicken sandwich and a bowl of chili from Wendy's, the only place open in town. While all of you got to go home and do your laundry and eat turkey and sleep from the tryptophan, I got to eat fast food for five days straight and spend every second of every motherfucking day in a tiny, confined motel room with my parents. I only felt like killing them once or twice.

I have officially decided to postpone the novel I was writing earlier this month. Stupid? Yeah. But really, something about it wasn't working for me, and I'd like to rewrite what I have before I go any farther. On the other hand, I have decided to begin a brand new novel. It's YA, realistic fiction, and that's all I'm going to tell anyone.

I am now going to relax for another hour or so and then contemplate writing. :'(
