this is me

Now that I've paid off my loans and my future/finances are wide open, I need to figure some shit out.

Here are some options.

1. Graduate school. A degree in Education (certificate in TEFL) or Applied Linguistics would help me out in future teaching endeavors. On the other hand, Russian History/something relating to Korea is calling...

1.5. To do graduate school I need money. If I do education I should probably be in the states to get accredited, but doesn't it make sense to get your TEFL certificate in an environment with primarily English as a second language learners? I will need to stay in Korea for at least 2 more years to afford grad school. My top two schools right now are the University of Delaware and National University of Singapore. But you know. Things change.

2. CELTA/TEFL certification. Take a plane to Thailand or Vietnam and get my CELTA certificate. Worthwhile and a pay-booster in future TEFL jobs. The money situation (approximately $2500) would be easy enough to handle.

3. Study Korean. Go to a university and study there. But... self-studying remains a much cheaper option. This will require approximately 1 more year of work (to finance a year of studies).

4. Go to Russia/Georgia/Kyrgyzstan and teach English. I wouldn't make much money but my savings from Korea would leave me with enough to live on. I would fulfill prior goals and dreams, etc.

I also have the following goals:
backpack around Asia/Europe/South America/the Middle East/Africa. Hike the Appalachian trail. Bike across the USA. Be a beach bum for a year in Malaysia/Thailand/the Philippines and write. I'm also considering the Peace Corps.

When it comes right down to it, I'm only 24 years old. I could plausibly - conceivably - do all of this by the time I'm 30 years old. Gotta get on the the ambition boat ASAP.
