hide all your mans! lock up your sons!

I have one class left until Thanksgiving break, bitches! I'll be staying in Kirksville, but my parents are coming down and we'll be having food at my place. Very exciting.

I had a paper conference with Dr. J yesterday, and for a change she liked my paper. Being the blunt person that I am, I went ahead and asked her if my grade in the class is stable enough to not need to revise my paper. She said that it is. Except for reading a few more plays, I'm pretty much done with that class.

For that matter, I know my grade/how much effort I need to put into most of my classes for the rest of the semester. My grade in Stats isn't going anywhere; same thing with Public Speaking (97% WHAT WHAT) and Russian Drama. I don't know what I'm getting in Russian, but I've been receiving fairly consistent B's, so it's safe to assume that I have a B in that class as well. Based on the syllabi, I only have a few finals and one or two more Stats assignments left to do this semester. Be jealous.

Oh, and something interesting: at the end of the paper conference, we talked a little about my Capstone project next semester. Dr. J gave me some insight as to what I can do. Basically, I can do either a translation or a research paper. As far as a translation is concerned, I can translate some obscure short story (any suggestions, native Russian speakers?) or I may translate part of Solzhenitsyn's Cancer Ward, which is otherwise known as one of my top five books of all time. I can also translate song lyrics (Vladimir Vysotsky or Bulat Okujava, navernoe), recipes, or jokes, but I'd have to do some extra research and write up a paper describing cultural/political/historical influences and what not. Another idea I had for a research paper is writing something about some of Andrei Tarkvosky's films, my favorites being Stalker (see icon), Andrei Rublyev, and Zerkalo. I have some time to think about what I'd like to do, so yeah, we'll see.

I would just like to apologize to everyone for not commenting/reading entries/being a good LJ friend as of late. A lack of internet and time has affected my, ah, LJ-friendliness. Sorry about that. In about three weeks I'll have constant internet access, so I won't have to awkwardly post from the library like I have been.
