weathered the storm

I kinda want a waffle.

This is what I do at 1:30 in the morning during my summer vacation... I study Russian. Well, at least I sort of understand aspect now. I think I'll save the [inevitable travails in studying] verbs of motion for tomorrow night.

Imperfective - habitual, repeated actions; actions in progress (and therefore not completed). Use in situations similar (though NOT IDENTICAL) to the French imparfait.
- Я писал письмо - "I was writing the letter." You did not FINISH writing the letter, you were IN THE PROCESS of writing the letter.
- Я буду писать письмо - "I will be writing the letter." You are not discussing the COMPLETION of the writing, but the fact that you will eventually be IN THE PROCESS of writing the letter. There is a possibility that there will NOT be a TANGIBLE RESULT.

Perfective - successfully completed actions. Use in situations similar (though NOT IDENTICAL) to the French passé composé.
- Я написал письмо - "I wrote the letter." You FINISHED writing the letter. There is a TANGIBLE RESULT.
- Я напишу письмо - "I will write the letter." You will FINISH writing the letter at some unspecified time. There isn't a doubt in your mind that there WILL be a TANGIBLE RESULT.

If any of the above is incorrect, plz m'expliquez les raisons pourquoi svp.
