this is me

let's stay out late

Happy Yom Kippur, everyone. Not that any of you (well, one or two) actually celebrate it. My father, the fairweather Jew that he is, celebrated. I fasted until sundown, but did "work" before then. We had Cornish hens (which I made). They could have been better.

My religious background: my father was born and raised Jewish, my mother was born southern Baptist and is currently agnostic. I was raised with an open mind - I am a practicing atheist/agnostic. Now, I still consider myself to be half Jewish, even though this was not passed down via my mother (which is how religion is passed in Jewish families) - I am ethnically Jewish, not religiously. I celebrate the holidays (uh, without going to Synagogue or Temple). Like my father, I am religious on a fairweather basis.

I just got back from Walgreens/Borders.

From Walgreens, I got three bleach kits (Clairol and Loreal) and some shampoo (Herbal Essences). From Borders, I got:

Howards End by E.M. Forster
The High Lord by Trudi Canavan
The Word by Irving Wallace
Murder on Grammercy Park by Victoria Thompson
Maria Mena - White Turns Blue
Concrete Blonde - Classic Masters

Not that I actually have the time to read any of these, nor the equipment to listen to my CDs (since the computer CD player is shot and my boom box refuses to go past the first three minutes on the first song of any given CD). Plus there's the fact that I have put off doing any work today. Damn.

Methods that I have used while washing my hair during my last three showers (the numbers signify how many showers I have used that method):
1 - baking soda
1 - Dawn dish soap
1 - Dial hand soap
1 - Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo
1 - Loreal shampoo for dyed hair
3 - Irish Spring soap
3 - soap I stole from the hotel last weekend
3 - O.T. shampoo
3 - Garnier Fructis conditioner

Needless to say, my hair is beginning to revolt. The soaps (Irish Spring, hotel, and Dial) all seem to work the best at removing the color. I'll be bleaching tomorrow, conditioning for a week, rebleaching and/or toning (well, maybe), and dyeing my hair sometime next weekend. I'm thinking Napalm Orange.

I'm going to give Dalila cookies in Italian, but she isn't supposed to know about that.

Harry Potter fanfiction is shitty. Why do I read it? The world will never know.
