this is me

no i don't think this is in proper french.

je déteste moi mais j'adore le plus de vous.

It's all okay.

I ordered four dyes today (purple, red, green, blue - all in neon shades), as well as... a shirt. It's the best goddamn shirt I've ever seen, mainly because it 1) looks good, 2) amuses me, and 3) disses the Best Damn President We Have Ever Had*.

It's fantastic. Once it arrives, I'll take pictures. And post them. Because I am rapidly becoming a photowhore. Don't ask me why, because I honestly can't answer that question... but if I had to figure out a reason, it's probably because I am feeling pretty damn hot all of a sudden. As that happens maybe once during the school year, I have to take advantage of this. Plus there's the whole oh-my-god-my-hair-would-make-Jesus-envy-me thing. Because it's true. He'd fucking kill for this mop.

I'm thinking that my best color, up to this point, was the black. Because it matched my soul and all. (backslash goth). And this haircut (done at home, so ignore the pajamas) looked pretty good. It was short, but not too short. It was long, but not too long.

I hope these new dyes work out. I miss having neon hair. Since, you know, having weird hair is the only way anyone ever notices me. (The only reason I act outgoing [and even that is pushing it] online is because I like to cause a ruckus. Hohum.)

Oh, and by the way. This song rules.

* do you actually think i'd lie about this?**
** you're right, i would.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mr. You're On Fire Mr.
this is me

monday top five.

1. Maria Mena - You're The Only One (from White Turns Blue)
As I have mentioned before, this is one of the better "pop" songs of the year. The music bursting in as Mena sings "you're gonna leave me," the emotion in her voice, the (sadly inevitable) male bashing - it's all good. Possibly in my top ten songs of the year.

2. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mr. You're On Fire Mr. (from the Pin single)
Believe it or not, I have only heard one other song by The YYYs. I came across this song in an MP3 blog, and I have loved it from the first play. A cover of a song by The Liars, Karen O.'s voice is great, the music is awesome, and it is just an all-around unusual - yet fantastic - song.

3. Verbalicious - Don't Play Nice (from her untitled upcoming album)
Verbalicious is a teenage rapper from Britain. Yeah, I know what you're thinking - "you can't make crap without rap." That is wrong. She is an excellent rapper, she writes her own lyrics, and she has managed to create an excellent, unique song.

4. Beat Happening - Angel Gone (from Music to Climb the Apple Tree By)
One of the original "punk"ish "emo"ish bands from the '80s, this song was released in 2002, after a 10 year hiatus. My introduction to the group, Angel Gone is fantastic: the lead singer's voice is astonishing, the music is great, and even my mother loves this song. It will never die.

5. Xiu Xiu - I Luv The Valley (Oh!) (from Fabulous Muscles)
Apparently, this song is about such buzzwords as "loss," "hate," and "depression" - but I just don't see it. I adore this song with every speck of my being - it's so different that it is a little piece of perfection. Unfortunately, my father loves this song and Jamie Stewart's voice more than I do, so I can no longer play it when he's around (being the nasty son I am).

I've decided to do this every Monday, so be prepared, fuckers. Next Monday might include an MP3 of one of the songs (whether that happens depends on how much of a jerk I feel like. Ho hum).
