10월의 내 삶이다.

Mood: bland

October is almost over and I just realize that I haven't (publicly) updated since September.

Life is fine. I'm not really enjoying my classes, and I'm not really enjoying my situation in general. I gave myself this goal a few years ago- to become fluent in Korean, to attend graduate school and study Korean literature- but I'm just not passionate about it. I realize that "passion" is a sort of weak guideline to live your life by, but... I'm not necessarily happy, to be honest. And I'm not really sure what I could do to be happy. I've been wracking my brain, trying to come up with alternatives to graduate school, but I'm just not qualified for anything, and I just don't have enough of an interest in anything else for a life change to be reasonable. I'm just going to keep studying Korean and Korean literature and if an alternative pops up, I'll be thrilled. Until then, try to keep myself preoccupied, I suppose.

I joined the gym a block from my apartment a few weeks ago. Unlike last year, when I joined the gym and didn't go a single time (about which I am still ashamed), I have been going on a regular basis. Currently I go three times a week, with 30 minutes Couch to 5k on the treadmill and 30 minutes doing either upper body or lower body weights. When I finish Couch to 5k I'll move up to 4 days a week. I'm not really seeing a change yet, but I also don't really care; the goal here is to be healthy. Yes, it would be nice to have a great body, but I care much more about being fit and healthy. I am also walking ridiculous amounts of steps every day, thanks to my obsession with the Fitbit.

Some things that I've done in the last month that were kind of cool: I went to Dongdaemun Design Plaza with Nick and Kay for Seoul Fashion Week (ok, just one afternoon). There were a lot of attention whores and surprisingly few of the models were actually beautiful in the real world, but I saw a few famous (in Korea) people, so that was cool. I took the TOPIK again, it was kind of... whatever. I've hung out with Bong a few times recently, which involved a lot of walking but was a good time overall. I hung out in Gangnam today and ate the best tiramisu I've ever had before in my life- and I hate tiramisu, so this is notable. I have been on a lot of dates recently, only to discover that no, Seoul isn't better than the boonies. Seoul is just more of the same old shit, and I'll stop myself there.
