Mood: kind of sad

1. I went to the Philippines (Boracay) with my coworker, Megan, from February 15-20. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much from the trip, but I was pleasantly surprised. We stayed at a resort on the far end of the white beach, and it was terrific. If we had stayed closer to the DMall (the touristy area) I don't think I would have liked it as much, but being off the beaten path was nice. Our resort was only a 2 minute walk to the beach and the beach was stunning. Honestly, we spent the entire time laying on the beach, laying next to the pool, laying in the pool, laying on the porch, and laying in the living room. Also, eating. All the foods. I got a nice tan and a bad burn on my shoulders (forgot to reapply after going in the pool... oops). I just wish we'd been able to stay a couple days longer.

The big issue with the trip was we'd decided to try to save money by doing a layover in Manila, even though there was a (relatively) cheap direct flight to Kalibo, the airport closest to Boracay. On the way there we almost missed our plane, and on the way back we had to do a LOT of waiting. It was downright unpleasant.

2. On Friday, the same day I returned from Boracay, I met up with Megan (friend Megan, not coworker Megan) and Jess for dinner. We ate ddeok galbi at the cooked galbi restaurant, went for soju cocktails, and then stopped at a hoff for beer which we didn't actually finish. It was such a great evening. I haven't had that sort of evening in- well, years, frankly, and I regret it. Especially since both Megan and Jess are leaving Korea for good in less than a week. Excuse me while I huddle into a ball.

3. Saturday night I met a Korean friend and we went for beer downtown. My Korean was a little... lackluster? I think that's a good way to describe it. By the end of the night I was down to one-syllable words. I don't know if it's because I was tired, tipsy, or out of practice. Probably a combination of all three.

4. Sunday I did nothing of note.

5. Monday (today) I met up with Kristy and ate dalkgalbi for lunch, and then went to Sweet Finger (a coffeeshop owned by my friend) for pie. Em happened to start messaging us on Kakao and we had a hilarious three-way message session going on for a good half hour. It was great. I miss that girl.

6. Everyone is leaving Korea. As of Sunday afternoon, I will be down to two (foreign) friends in Korea.

I really do recommend that you go to Boracay if you get the chance! It's really beautiful and quite cheap coming to/from Korea, at any rate. :)
