Mood: pleased

My computer works! Since my last entry I wandered around Pungam some more, slept, cleaned my apartment, watched Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix, and went to Kumho World with Nigel and Zandra. My new power supply/cord cost 30,000 won. It would've cost 12 USD + $35 for S&H... oh well. After that we met up with Megan at TGIF's. I had a chimichanga. It was pretty okay. Dessert though... hoo boy. Brownie Obsession = amaaazing.

In celebration of having a working computer again, I have decided to pick up that meme that has been floating around my friend's list.

Stolen and subverted from lofro, who stole and subverted it from mad_maudlin:

First ten people to comment with a prompt get a short story from me. If you don't have a prompt, I'll write whatever comes to mind. This story will be however long or short as I feel it needs to be. I'll post the stories whenever I damn well feel like it. I don't really care if you repost the meme in your own journal, but it would be nice (for the sake of reciprocity, etc).

1. ladyequinox - adventures in coffee shops
2. gaypenguinsrock - werewolves in Korea
3. mad_maudlin - pet peeves
4. evilfishytank - random acts of kindness to a stranger, with a twist at the end
5. kirbylicious - weird things one finds in fandom
6. sittingontrains - New York, 1900
7. sebscam2003 - A Room With A View
8.

what are the dates you'll be here? I'll also need to know the exact time you're arriving in Gwangju, b/c depending on the day/time I'll have class. plus, depending on the dates I may be able to get a hold of an air mattress... or I'll have to go buy a new set of blankets/etc. I figured out how to say vegetarian, but IDK if you'll be able to find a place that actually does vegetarian foods. (I love soy milk myself, but I haven't seen it sold anywhere.) Asking for coffee is easy, it's just asking for the English with a Korean accent.

I'll plan on coming (arriving) in Seoul airport, February 13th and then I leave the 21st. Don't worry I love bread and I am sure I can find THAT at least everywhere! and fruit of course, and KIMCHI is vegetarian right? lol =D

Oh yes, bread is everywhere! The fruit I've gotten from street vendors have been absolutely incredible - and kimchi is, of course, vegetarian. :P

oh! and I actually have another option for you - a little more expensive than staying with me, but an option nonetheless: you could stay in a love motel. they're really quite cheap, and some are pretty high class (for a place where people cheat on their spouses...)

honestly, I'm not exactly equipped for guests. (I have 1 bed, 1 chair, 1 key, barely any space.)

No worries! I'll look into other places to stay, I think I'll try to stay in a hostel/guesthouse or homestay that's in Seoul actually. So I hope that maybe that first weekend I get there ou can make the trip to visit me where I'd be staying in Seoul, OR i'll try to come visit you in gwanju during the week. Would you be able to find time for that? Anyway don't worry, we'll figure it all out sooner or later!

whew, I'm sorry, I just wasn't able to anticipate the logistics of living/working here until now. Yeah, I think staying in Seoul would be a good idea - more sights, etc than down here. (Though there's plenty to do and see here, of course!) I don't think I'll be able to head up to Seoul over the weekend b/c I'll be going there literally 1 week after you leave, and I'd have to leave on Saturday and come back on Sunday... idk. You coming here might work, though I work afternoons/evenings, so for the most part you'd be on your own except in the mornings... we'll figure this out!

Random act of kindness for a stranger. But there has to be a twist at the end.

Weird things one finds in fandom.

Also, one of these days we'll find time to chat, yes? One of my goals this year is to keep in better contact with people and you're making it difficult Adam. ;)

aaaack I'm sorry! This has been a bad, bad, bad month. Tomorrow is my last day of wintercamp though, so I will have far more time starting Saturday. (Instead of going to work at 9am, I'll be going in at noon. Big difference, trust me.) Okay, f'realz, we'll talk. It's currently 6:17pm here and 3:17am in the US... we could try talking in the evenings (your evenings) next week perhaps? It'll happen, I swear!

Haha no worries, I couldn't ever get mad at you - you're too awesome. Srsly. And 12 instead of 9 is a HUGE difference. Hell, I take a half hour if I can get it!

Evenings sounds like a plan to me, I'll have a look at my work schedule to see what evenings would work best for me - as long as I don't have to be up early for work I'm just fine with being up late. And then we'll officially pick a time.

Is this still open?? If so - New York, 1900. And since you and Amanda are pretty much the only ones who read my livejournal I don't really see the point in reposting this, but I will happily write you a short story on any topic in exchange.

A Room With A View

It seems the other suggestions maybe a little more high brow than mine but i would really like to hear a short story about your ... 'I have 1 bed, 1 chair, 1 key, barely any space' ... and of the view from your window as the day is born till it is put to rest ... I feel it is something interesting to hear of the sights the sounds and the general flavor of where you live ... Do the birds sing or even pass overhead? ... Can one hear the cries and laughs of children as they rush in the street below? ... Is the air thick with the scent of many kitchen broths or the thick choke of the fumes from madding taxis? ... Can one see freedom in the form of say distant mountains covered in wisps of white cloud from the prison of a cluttered city? ...

I know nothing of where you live other than an odd conversation or two over the years with a close friend who moved where you are to do the same as you ... so i know of the lies and crazy unfulfilled contracts ... but what of the life? ... I can only imagine the sense of life for you ... I enjoy your delivery of words and am sure that a short story about the inside and outside of your room would satisfy any of your 70 odd followers ... I only hope i have not embarrassed myself by not noticing ... in an entry i may of missed ... a previous description from you ... I encourage you to find the time to write in your busy life because it is nice to have words from you in the East and a land i do not know ...

enjoy your time in Seoul it sounds very cool ...

hugs and love i send to you XxX

no, don't worry, I don't think anyone has any high brow ideas... I don't know if I'll ever get around to writing the stories, but I'll certainly try to come up with something eventually. Thanks for the kind words - I don't know if I've described my living situation very well, so I'll give it a try!

Cool ... i shall look forward to that sometime then ... do not worry i know you are busy with living at the moment ... i just hope you can find some good karma and find those special moments ... you seem to need a break from those around you and find some solace in solitude ... maybe i am way off track and if so i apologize ... just find some 'me' time more often is what i reckon ... the things you hope for will find you ... no need to run around trying to find them ... trust me >:-)

look after yourself ... hugs and love from the colds of southern Spain XxX
