Music: Florence and the Machine - Dog Days Are Over

Such... a... long... week...

and it's not over yet. :'(

Since New Year's was last week, this was my first full week of work. Plus, since kids don't have school in January, they also have to do wintercamp, so I get to teach an extra two hours every morning.

Overall I'd say I enjoy teaching quite a bit. It's fun. I like acting like a fool and having little kids figure out what a "rodeo" is or whatever. On the other hand, I hate it when the kids don't listen. And then I have to write their names on the board, or make them stand in a corner, and then they cry and it's this whole thing. Okay, the crying incident didn't have anything to do with any of that, but yeah. Do not like.

Something else I don't like about wintercamp: long work days. Today (Friday) I got to work at 9 and I have to go back in about an hour for a few more classes. I finish up for the day at 9. Monday/Wednesdays are worse: I work 9-10. Just 15 more days of wintercamp to go...

I have very little money right now. I need to make it to payday on the 14th, but that's not going to be all that much. Fortunately I'll be making an extra million won for wintercamp, but I'm not going to see that until February 14. I'll survive, I'm sure, but it kind of sucks. I just need to scrimp and save. A lot.

Lately I've been reading a bunch of kids/YA books: Scott Westerfeld, Louise Rennison (ugh shut up), and my personal favorite - Gordon Korman. Did anyone ever read Gordon Korman when they were kids? I freaking loved them when I was a kid, especially The War with Mr. Wizzle. They're a little dated, but they stood the test of time amazingly. No wonder I loved them! They're freaking brilliant.

In other news, I kinda have a crush. I doubt it's going to come to anything, but whatever. I'm just going to ignore it and hope it goes away, I guess.

I doubt the crush is going to be progressing anywhere, I'm just not that lucky. but whatev. (sorry, in an angsty emo mood.)

yeah, scrimping and saving is a bitch, but I've been known to make $100 last me months, so I think I'll manage. I just can't do anything fun. And most of my money will need to go toward food. :'(

thanks!

Ugh, 12 hour days are the worst. My Wednesdays last year in Germany were crazy - I had class from 8 to 8 (with breaks, but still) and then I went to a club thing that usually ran until 10:30 - 11, and then add in a 40 minute commute each way and you've got a very long day. Of course, I wasn't working the whole time - but I feel your pain. Chocolate and coffee is how I made it through :) At least you are enjoying your job though, that makes the time go a lot faster!

yikes, your Wednesdays sound like they were AWFUL. I'm lucky, I don't have anything after/before school, and I get plenty of breaks... it's just a very, very long day. (Plus, I live about 8 minutes walking distance from the school, so it's not bad at all!) Chocolate helps everything. I actually taught the word "chocolate" to one of my classes yesterday, hahaha, and they didn't know what a chocolate bar was! (They thought it was a chocolate stick.) yeah, at least I enjoy it!

Sounds like you're having quite the time! That sucks that money's so tight, I know that feeling all too well. Still, it seems like you're enjoying it still, which is the most important part, IMO.

And I shall be optimistic about your crush, if you won't be. *nods*

yeah, money's a little tight, but I'll probably survive. I just need to watch what I eat... how much I drink... how warm I am... etc. ;) :'(

haha, thanks. idk, I'm always so optimistic about everything, but my love life - not so much. the fact that I'm fairly shy/quiet kind of works against me, and... idk. I'm not good with this sort of thing, you know? So it's easier to try to forget about it and move on than to dream and angst and all that shit. Oh god, I'm going to be alone forever, aren't I? (if/when we chat ask me about this crush and I'll go into more details, right now I need to take a nap before I can face my next 4 classes, haha.)

That is one of the main reasons I'm glad I'm still living at home - even though it's kind of weird to me to be almost 25 (and don't I feel old and loser-y now) and still living with my parents. But I don't have to allot for things like food and utilities.

Oh, cheer up emo kid! ;) I know the annoyances of being shy and quiet really well, so I totally feel your pain. We'll have to talk more about it when we set up a chat time, because dreaming only goes so far and angsting isn't fun for anyone. Not that I have experience in that or anything.
