Mood: headachey

7 years old, sitting in a movie theater in Elkins, West Virginia, watching Simba's father die. Fourth grade computer class, my rage and frustration boiling over while learning how to type using the home keys. Age 11, squeezing out some crocodile tears in response to some slight (... my descent into puberty can be compared to a car slamming into a concrete wall; there were no survivors). After that the emotions slowly faded away. I learned to control my emotions through writing, talking, or sleeping them out. Crying became a memory of the past.

No, I'm not a crier.

That being said, I just discovered that one of my favorite childhood book series which I have spent the last week rereading (instead of studying Korean or working on rewriting a paper or preparing for the semester that starts next week oh crap) has a new book, which was released roughly two weeks ago. And it's over 600 pages. For a second, maybe two, I briefly reconsidered my position on tears. Happiness is a good reason for having a sob or two, right?

Time to go stay up until some obnoxiously late hour reading!

Note: this was originally a Facebook status until I decided it deserves journal-status. And the book series is Diane Duane's "Young Wizards" series. Megan, if you're reading this, I highly recommend you check it out. Alternatively, check out the Cat Wizards series (which is in the same universe, but more "grown up", in a way).

I did not like those books. I never finished those books. I tried so hard to love them...but couldn't.
