Mood: pas mal

The new term started up this week. It's been a very busy week; teaching, exercising, studying, plus class and Book Club. I've been exhausted and haven't really had any free time all week. But... it's the weekend, so I am taking advantage of my free time.

Today I've done some cleaning, finished reading a book, exercised, studied French and Korean, napped, grocery shopped, and lazed. Wonderful. I'm going to go meet Shannon for dinner and then we'll take one of our epic walks, as we are apt to do.

Study update: I've been reading the Little Prince in Korean, just a chapter a day. The first few chapters were well over my head, but I've been starting to identify words through context and I'm understanding full blocks of text at a time. I'm rather pleased with myself. I have about 15 more days of this and then I'll pick up Camus' The Stranger (just because I have the Korean version available), and then I'll go out and get Harry Potter. The Korean language shall be my bitch, dammit.

I've read The Little Prince in... 5 languages now? All of the languages I've studied intensively, at any rate. I have to admit, my ability to understand Korean is not at an advanced enough level to figure out of Korean has metaphors or flowery literary styles. Based on the translations of books I've read I suspect that is exactly what I'll find in the originals.

I don't know if there are any places to study French in Korea. I just self-study using a textbook. It's going well enough, although I've been so tired this week that I doubt I'll remember anything.

I really like Kpop actually! Go listen to Roy Kim - Bom Bom Bom or Love Love Love. SHINee - Lucifer or Sherlock. Movies... I really enjoyed Flying Boys. I haven't seen many movies yet though. I'm waiting until I get good enough to watch them without subtitles. I agree, there are many attractive Kpop singers... my personal favorite (at the moment!) is San E (산이), although he's a rapper, so his music may not be your cup of tea.
